LG G7 ThinQ: revamped flagship

LG G7 ThinQ: revamped flagship

The tech-giant gave it their all on this device!

After the leaks and waiting, LG has finally released their flagship phone for this year!

Highlights of the LG G7 ThinQ

The rise of ThinQ— a smarter phone. To start off let’s talk about their AI cam mode that automatically adjusts to the best mode for the photo like the usual landscape and wide angle and even a pet mode. It’s also the first phone to have the Google Assistant Button. While it also has the Super Far Field Voice recognition so you can ask Google from up to 16 feet away.

For music or sound experience, they have the Boombox Speaker which amplifies sounds on the inside spaces of the phone. There’s still the 3.5mm headphone jack folks!

How are the initial reviews?

For AndroidAuthority, LG was dead serious about the super brightness mode. The 6.1-in IPS LCD display can go from 500 nits to 1000 nits real quick and does not disappoint with its 3,120×1,440 resolution. Keeping with the trend in other flagship phones, the LG G7 is powered by the ultra-fast Snapdragon 845 processor..

Although they lowered the power of the battery to 3,000mAh compared to the LG G6 battery (not to worry, we have chargers to help you out). For them the most striking feature is the camera’s bright mode which uses pixel binning to turn up the brightness in dark areas.

While Techradar goes into discussing the notch (yes folks, it’s here to stay). This was LG’s way of expanding the the screen ratio to 19.5:9 making way for space to status icons.

To make it more personalized, you can either hide it or choose from different colors to the side of the notch for more fun. It’s quite the mainstream familiar and pleasing smartphone of the year. The LG G7 ThinQ is also available in Raspberry Rose and Moroccan Blue colors they think looks better than the New Platinum Gray color.

While Digital Trends reviews the wide-angle mode of the camera which is very versatile to take 107-degree photos and makes the company one of the only manufacturers to give such spec.

For those in Canada, it just might be your lucky time to buy the phone! You can get a 43-inch 4K TV when you pre-order the device! This only runs until May 31 so Canadians can think twice or thrice of grabby the opportunity. (Still having our fingers crossed that they’d come up with this too for the US!!!)

The release date in the US and Canada is June 1 while preorders start as early as May 24 for some US carriers. Rumor has it, the price in the US may be at $740 with a floor price of $650 based on the LG G6.

I think I’m gonna give this phone a shot!

Excellent! Once the device is released, we’ll be ready to arm your device for the ultimate protection! For sure, we’ll be releasing our signature Ballistic Glass Screen Protector to cover that wide-range screen. And maybe a few more accessories to help you out 😉

LG G7 ThinQ: launching on May 2!

LG G7 ThinQ: launching on May 2!

LG’s planning to make a big comeback this year!

Another day, another rundown from the rumor mill. Right now it’s abuzz with the upcoming LG G7.

Let’s get to it!

After posting 11 quarters of losses, LG previously announced that they will only be releasing a flagship phone when needed instead of the usual yearly release. Although, a sneak peak of the new phone was said to be in view at the last Mobile World Congress (even known leaker Evan Blass took notice).

Earlier rumors reported that the upcoming flagship is codenamed Judy and will be launched in June. However, the tech-giant finally cleared the air with a launch dates: May 2 at Metropolitan West in Manhattan, New York while May 3 in Seoul, South Korea. And it’s official name: LG G7 ThinQ with  rumored availability around mid-May.

What’s in a name?

It’s their first flagship to have the ThinQ attributed to it (one of the first was the LG V30 ThinQ launched last MWC) which focuses on enriching phone use with AI.

What can we expect from the new device?

Hello, notch. Just like the iPhone X (and a lot of other phones since) the flagship will also have a notch on the top part of the display. It’s display is expected to be around 5.7-inches and have an 18:9 aspect ratio. To keep costs down, LG will also be using LCD displays instead of the popular OLED ones on the large-market phones. Rumors indicate it might be powered by the Snapdragon 845 and may have 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage space. With the ThinQ added, it may also have a dedicated AI button on board and an Iris Scanner.

And headphone jack lovers: this phone will most likely have one! (no promises though!)

It’s also rumored to come in the following colors: Aurora Black, Platinum Grey, Moroccan Blue, Moroccan Blue (Matte) and Raspberry Rose.

How about the price?

Given it’s a flagship phone, it’ll have a high end price too. Right now, the price will be at least $729. We understand the rising prices are a lot for a phone but don’t worry: as promised, Tech Armor will always have your back! 😉

We’ll keep you posted for screen protectors and other accessories we can give this new device! In the meantime, you can check out the gadgets we’re currently protecting (and how you can protect them) on our Amazon Storefront Page and website.

What’s New From LG? News on the LG G7?

What’s New From LG? News on the LG G7?

Major revamp coming for an LG device!

Apple and Samsung are having a field day (or month really) with rumors and new releases, but we haven’t  forgotten about LG! There may be a lot that you’ve missed: we’ve got some info to help you get started!

What will we see in MWC?

LG released a statement they’ll be releasing improved versions of their K8 AND K10 smartphones. It will be released in regions such as Europe, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. And in three colors: Aurora Black, Moroccan Blue and Terra Gold.

Improvements on the phones are focused on the camera features with the K10 having an out-focus feature while the K8 showcasing an improved low light shot feature. Both devices will run on Android Nougat.

We’ll also be getting an advanced LG V30 version adding Vision AI to the mix. It can scan QR codes and perform image searches to name a few. And you’d also get new voice commands for Google Assistant.

For the name, what’s going around the rumor mill so far is: V30S and V30+‘α. It’s reported to officially launch on March 8 or 9 in South Korea so safe to say the rest of the world to follow  some time after.

Right now you might be asking: how about the LG G7?

This Korean tech-giant hasn’t been having the best of luck in the smartphone industry. They’ve decided to unveil new smartphones when needed unlike before in a yearly manner.

But don’t lose hope yet! There have been recent reports that they are working on a new phone codenamed “Judy” which may be the revamped LG G7. Leaker Evan Blass has said the device will have new hardware, 6.1-inch, 18:9 Vision display and will be using an MLCD+ panel. Target release is June 2018.

Other updates:

The LG G6 and LGV30 will be getting the Android 8.1 Oreo update soon. (Which we also have protected!)

(We’ve got LG G6 armed!)

(Of course the LG V30 too!)

This tech-giant is expected to release 5G phones, in 2019 with Qualcomm X50 modem.

Galaxy Note 8 Reviews: the best device for you?

Galaxy Note 8 Reviews: the best device for you?

Was Samsung able to redeem themselves?

After the Galaxy Note 7 was practically synonymous with “explosion”, Samsung released their next-gen Galaxy Note 8. And not far along came the reviews. Are you eyeing on the Note 8 to be your next phone? We’ve got you covered!

Galaxy Note 8

Galaxy Note 8

What’s to love?

Even with a great 6.3-inch “Infinity Display” screen size the phone is easy to hold in one hand. Then you can use your other hand for the S-Pen and tap away on the device. It’s also not as big as the other chunky phones like the iPhone 7 Plus. This is so far the biggest screen ever placed in a Note too.

The Note 8 also has a great AMOLED display even in power saving mode. Plus even with the “always-on” display, there’s not much worry on battery drain as the display only uses power for colors other than black (smart design!).

Going back to the S-Pen, there’s been some great and helpful upgrades on it too! One very usable perk is writing a note even with the screen locked up to 100 pages and more!

Plus Live Message that can be made into a GIF and send in social media which is pretty neat for this reviewer.

Another relatively new trick in the device is hiding the screen navigation bar with a double tap which can be handy for times you want to maximize the screen for an app.

There’s also a headphone jack for those who still need to have it!

Galaxy Note 8

Galaxy Note 8

Samsung also joined the bandwagon by placing dual cameras on the Note 8. The Korean tech giant did not hold back in making sure image quality is amazing according to this review. You can also shoot bokeh-like images called “Live Focus.”

Galaxy Note 8

Galaxy Note 8

What’s NOT to love?

If you’re not much of a fan of Bixby and the dedicated Bixby key, sorry to say but it’s here to stay…and probably for keeps. This reviewer still quite hated the fact the fingerprint sensor is at the back near the camera like the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. And the alternatives don’t work as well either.

Repairing / replacing the display can be pretty difficult since you have to take out the glass case with its strong adhesive. So, it’s best to keep that display protected!!

With great perks, come great/expensive price. The starting price is at $930 for the unlocked version and can go for $960 through US carriers.

Galaxy Note 8

Galaxy Note 8

OK, I definitely want to buy the Note 8! But this is some hefty price!?

Shelling out almost $1,000 for an awesome device is definitely no laughing matter. That’s why we at Tech Armor want to make sure that you get to maximize your investment with no worries!

Our 3D-Edge Ballistic Glass Case-Friendly Screen Protector will keep your screen scratch and fingerprint-free! And those accidental drops? Our protectors will also take the brunt of the fall for your screen! 😉

Don’t worry about phone accessories for your new Note 8 like Powerbanks, Cables, Car Mounts & Car Chargers. Tech Armor’s got your back—always! 😉

Google Launch 2017: New Google Pixel 2 phones and more!

Google Launch 2017: New Google Pixel 2 phones and more!

They had a lot under their sleeve to reveal! 😉

Google did not hold back with all the announcements it had October 4 at the San Francisco Jazz Center! After lots of leaks and speculations, they finally launched the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL! And there’s even more new tech you might wanna check out.

First up: the new Google Phones!

One of the immediate differences is seen in the screen structure:

  • The Google Pixel 2 has a 5.0-inch OLED display and a 16:9 aspect ratio.
  • The Pixel 2 XL has 6.0-inch P-OLED display with a 18:9 aspect ratio. The larger phone ironically has slimmer bezels around the screen compared to its small counterpart.

The Pixel 2 also is powered a 2,700 mAh battery, while the Pixel 2 XL boasts a 3,520 mAh cell. The available colors for the Pixel 2 are Just Black, Clearly White, Kinda Blue and Black and White (the Pixel 2 XL is only Just Black and Black and White).

While most of the interior specs are the same for both phones. Some of which are:

The devices are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB of Ram and the latest version of Android Oreo out of the box. They’re also DayDream/augmented reality Ready. You can also choose from either 64GB or 128GB of storage.

Sadly, no headphone jacks on this one folks. You’d have to choose between listening to music or charging the phone.

The bright side is the Google Pixel camera continues to be on top of the DxOMark scoring a 98, beating current Apple and Samsung flagships both scoring a 94. One of the newest features you can check out is squeezing the sides of the device to launch Google Assistant. The phone will also come with the Quick Switch Adapter to make transferring data easier from your old phone to your chosen Pixel 2. Oh and this is how they showed it in the event:

Pretty interesting, right? 😉

What else did Google announce?

Google announced a whole lot in its conference! Several of the other announcements are:

  • Google Pixelbook as a “four in one convertible”
  • Pixelbook Pen to complement the new Pixelbook
  • Google Home Max, the tech-giant’s answer to Apple’s Homepod,
  • Google Home Mini, smaller/donut-sized version of the Max
  • DayDream VR headset
  • Google Pixel Buds (notable feature is its live translation)
  • Google Clips

Awesome! But how much for the new Pixel phones again?

The price for the Pixel 2 starts at $649 while for the Pixel 2 XL starts at $849.

Almost $1,000?! That price is no joke.

Unfortunately, there seems to be no stopping the rising price for any new phone on the market! 🙁 Tech Armor totally understands how investing on a great phone is important nowadays. And just how much it can give a dent to your wallet.

That’s why we make sure that you get premium quality phone accessories at a fraction of your device’s price. A clear win-win! 😉

We are definitely protecting the new Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL! Stay tuned as we give more updates on our upcoming screen protectors for it!

Fitbit Charge 2: great buy?

Fitbit Charge 2: great buy?

Best way to shoot for a healthier lifestyle?

With the rise of awesome smartphones, comes the cool wearables and smartwatches too. One of the greatest pros of having one is the health benefits it can give. Did the Fitbit Charge 2 catch your attention? Looking to get yours? Get more info below!

Pros

It’s definitely considered as an upgrade from its predecessor. The display is four times larger, which is a huge plus— you get to see more info in just one glance. You can also customize the comfier rubber straps from the following styles: Classic, Luxe leather and their Special Editions. Making it more fashionable.

And choose from 3 sizes: small, large and XL.

The device can also automatically track if you’re exercising so you’ll continue to be in the zone.

One great highlight for the Fitbit Charge 2 is the PurePulse Heart Rate tracking technology without having to wear a chest strap. US Consumer Reports backed up the device’s reasonable level of heart-rate accuracy.

While a great first, the Guided Breathing feature helps improve your condition—releasing stress or for cooling down.

Another awesome new feature is the VO2 Max that measures your heart rate based on your age and gender.

All standard fitness tracking data are also present and considered correct in the app. The app is also in easy to read format. Overall a solid successor fitness tracker.

Cons

It’s water resistant but not waterproof folks. It’s not also recommended by Fitbit to use while in the shower.

Interacting with the OLED display may also mean jabbing or poking it since it uses the accelerometer to tell when you’re hitting it since it’s not touch screen.

How much is it?

The price starts at $149.95, so are you totally sold on buying one? Great! With that bigger screen comes greater responsibility to protect it – with the poking included too. Good thing Tech Armor has your back! 😉 We’ve got the HD Clear Screen Protector in 2-pack! You could probably use the other one as spare or share with a fellow-Fitbit Charge 2 user!

Speaking of fitness, make sure to get moving too! Achieve a lifetime of movement with our friends from Motus Edge! Stretch and warm-up with their Resistance Bands, while giving yourself extra protection with their Compression Sleeves!

Decided to try Crossfit? They got a Starter Kit for that!

As always, Tech Armor has you covered! 😉

OnePlus 5: worth buying?

OnePlus 5: worth buying?

Could this be your new phone?

Still checking the phone market to see which would be the best for you? If you’re not onboard with the latest Apple phones, then the OnePlus 5 might just be the one! We’ve got some reviews and info that might help you out!

Pros?

The OnePlus 5 is one speedy and minimalist phone. Jumping in and out of apps are lightning quick and efficient. It’s considered as the fastest phone this reviewer used. The company did not hold back as the phone is powered with the latest Snapdragon 835. Plus with the Ardeno 540 GPU for a great gaming experience.

Old-fashioned but not your typical 1080p 5.5-inch AMOLED panel with 16:9 resolution. It has vibrant colors and can get very bright that you can check your phone even under the sunlight.

It’s a first for the company to manufacture a phone that’s rocking the dual-lens camera. The main camera is 16MP with super-wide aperture of f/1.7. The other is the 20MP telephoto lens with aperture of f/2.6. These cameras are especially useful for Portrait Mode and shooting faraway subjects.

For gamers, the Gaming Do Not Disturb mode would be a great plus where you can turn off all notifications while playing. For everyone who’s missing the 3.5mm headphone jack on recent iPhones
 this one has it!

While its Oxygen OS has lots of customizable perks like the notification shade easily customizable.

Cons?

No folks this phone is still not waterproof like other phones today. So best to keep it away from bodies of water.

The OnePlus 5 also has no expandable memory. So you might have to make a second check on which you’d choose: the 64GB or 128GB storage?

Hardware (and partly software) might kind of be reminiscent of other phones like Apple and Oppo, if this can be a deal breaker for you.

The price may be neutral ground starting at $479, which is still quite cheaper than Apple’s iPhones or Samsung’s Galaxy 8/8Plus or Note 8. Not a bad phone…for that price too! Looking to purchase one? Before it runs out in the wild, it”s best to keep the screen safe from drops and scratches!

Tech Armor has you covered with our Edge-to-Edge glass Ballistic Glass Screen Protector! 😉

LG V30: launching this August 31?

Will it use OLED displays too?

LG might just release a new phone on their V series line. Exactly your cup of tea? Let us help you out to get the latest on the rumor mill! 😉

Specs to expect: lots of upgrades

Display: joining the bandwagon?

The Investor reported earlier this year that LG will also start using OLED screens,

beginning with the LG V30. Which may look like the Galaxy S8.

Though it’ll still have the V series signature second screen. But this time it might slide out from under the main screen.

What’s under the hood?

The new LG phone will be powered by the latest Snapdragon 835, along with 6GB of RAM. And the device will have an audio boost with the upgraded Quad DAC.

It’ll also be one of the first devices to be Daydream-ready. It’s Google’s new virtual reality platform that revolves on using headsets, peripherals and software.

Other new possible perks?

Everyone might just be in luck as the LG V30 may also sport two 13MP rear cameras just like the G6 has.

Another rumor that’s come up is the device will have a glass back to feature wireless charging.

Any leads on the release?

Lots in the web agree that LG will be launching the new device on August 31. As they all share the sentiment it’s what’s being hinted in the invite the tech giant sent out.

Another important question: how much?

As of now price range goes from $699 to likely over $700 USD and even upto $750

That’s still pretty expensive!

We totally understand that getting a great phone is no walk in the park. Especially with the price getting higher.

So here at Tech Armor, we’ll make sure you get the best possible protection at just a fraction of the price! Pretty neat right? 😉

So not to worry as we’ll be able to help you out if you plan to get the LG V30. We’ll be ready with our screen protectors so the phone’s awesome screen will stay amazing.

If you’re always driving and on the go, you can get our car charger so your phone will always be powered up!

LG G6 or LG G6+: which is the one for you?

LG released a G6+ version too! Is it the one for you?

LG G6 is one of the first flagship phones released this 2017. And now just months after, we have the LG G6+!

Now deciding which to get? Let Tech Armor help you out! Read on to know more! 😉

What’s on LG G6 again?

Let’s take a recap on LG’s 2017 flagship phone.

The device was revealed in this year’s Mobile World Congress. It attracted a lot with the less-bezel screen sporting a 18:9 aspect ratio—a first for a smartphone. It also has a Quad HD+ display with a 2,880 x 1,400 resolution. And powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor.

Another notable feature is that LG went back to basics compared to its riskier predecessor. It exhibits a simple unibody metal design— which means we had to say goodbye to the removable battery. Oh, and the phone supports Netflix HDR too.

Other specs include 3,300 mAh non removable battery and Full Vision Display.

How will the LG G6 Plus (LG G6+) be different?

Off the bat, one of the popular said upgrades in the new device is the 128GB storage compared to the 32GB in the LG G6.  Also, folks will get to enjoy hi-res audio as LG included a 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC headphone port.

Plus you’ll have more color options: Optical Astro Black, Marine Blue and Terra Gold. These color options will have a lenticular film on the back of the phone for an optical effect. But other than that, hardware specs is still quite the same with the LG G6: the 5.7-inch QHD display with rounded corners, the Snapdragon 821 processor and the 3,300 mAh battery.

Next 2 questions you might have in mind are: when will it be available and for how much?

Rumored price for the LG G6 Plus so far is around $890. And still no word/rumors when the phone will be globally available.

Now here’s a quick rundown of the specs for both:

Hold on. There’s more! Both the LG G6 and the LG G6+ versions will be getting:

  • “Face Print” Software where you can unlock your phone using facial recognition
  • “Low Power Consumption” to help manage the 3300mAh power
  • “Covered Lens Warning” so you’ll know if you’re blocking the dual lens camera

Seems like both are sweet phones!

They sure are! Here at Tech Armor, we want to make sure that all your gadgets are safe for any kind of scenario! The great news is we’ve got the LG G6 covered too! 😉 Since the screen size/shape didn’t change from the original LG G6 model, our current Ballistic Glass Screen Protector fits both models!

Our flagship screen, the Ballistic Glass Screen Protector will secure your screen from drops and scratches! And if 3,300mAh power, even with the Low Power Consumption software, is not enough for you
our ActivePower Power banks should do the trick!

Not a fan of germs on your device? We’ve got cleaning kits for you too!
